BARBOURSVILLE - An oak hill man and his brother are named as the victims in a Cabell County shooting this weekend.

Deputies identified the men as 60-year-old Garrick Hopkins from Milton and 61-year-old Carl Hopkins from Oak Hill. Authorities said the younger brother had recently purchased a lot and took his brother to see it.

Authorities said 62-year-old Rodney Bruce Black called 911 and told dispatchers he had shot two people who were breaking into his outbuilding. The outbuilding in question was on the Hopkins property and contained no belongings of Black, according to deputies.

The Cabell County Sheriff's Department conducted a search at Black's home and seized a large number of weapons and ammunition. Black was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and remains in the Western Regional Jail pending further court proceedings.
