CORRECTION - A Fayette County teacher accused of hitting several students is still employed with Fayette County Public Schools but no longer has contact with students, according to officials.

Superintendent Keith Butcher told Newswatch Wednesday that Kathleen Wade is technically employed as a full-time elementary school teacher, but has put on administrative leave. Butcher said no further actions will be taken until resolution of her charges.

Wade was charged with two counts of battery stemming from allegations in May. The West Virginia Department of Education is conducting an internal investigation into the allegations.

Wade's next court appearance has not yet been set.
