GREEN VALLEY - A new health department eagerly opened its doors on Tuesday in Mercer County, now offering better services than ever before.
Employees said the new building is like a dream come true. Better services are able to be provided to the community now, and the space is benefitting patients more than anyone else. Environmental Health offices, physician care, laboratory space, and multiple clinics are being offered to the public from this new location. Administrator at the department told Newswatch that this process has been in the works for years and none of this would have been possible without help from the community. Certain sources, like the County Commission, and prior Sen. Robert Byrd, have had an invaluable hand in getting this project done. Staff members continue enjoying their new building and are grateful to anyone who helped establish it. “We are thrilled, if you had ever seen our old site, when it rained outside, it rained inside. Here it is just wonderful; everything is new, state of the art. We're just walking around with our mouths touching the ground,” said Administrator Susan Kader.
The Mercer County Health Department urged anyone to stop in and see the new site. While you're at it, look into getting a flu shot before flu season hits its peak in February.
