SUNDIAL - A section of W.Va. Route 3 in Raleigh County closed by a recent rock slide might not reopen for another two weeks.

West Virginia Department of Transportation (WVDOT) Spokesman Brent Walker estimated the road near Sundial will reopen to general traffic in ten days to two weeks. WVDOT is allowing emergency vehicles to cross the road.

Three large boulders and debris fell onto the road during the December 27, 2013 rock slide. Walker said crews are breaking up unstable bedrock and working to stabilize the hillside.

Maintenance crews will look for potential slides in the area after the slide is cleared, according to Walker.
