PINEVILLE - Wyoming County will get it's first four-lane highway when a segment of the Coalfields Expressway is finished.
Richard Browning, Coalfields Expressway Authority Executive Director, said that a contract was awarded in October for a two-mile section of the highway. The section started West of Helen in Raleigh County and went into Wyoming County. Browning said the bid for the project was about $14.4 million, 25% to 30% below the estimate.
He said the Authority was working to extend the highway into McDowell County. When completed, the expressway will run from Raleigh County, West Virginia to Buchanon County, Virginia.
