PRINCETON - An Islamic Center has been vandalized and the investigation may turn into a federal one.

The Islamic Center, located in Princeton, reported vandalism in the form of red spray paint to the Mercer County Sheriff's Dept. on Sunday.

Deputy E.P. Parks said that the incident has been filed as a hate crime and the FBI may be called in to further investigate. The anti-Islamic sentiments written on the outside of the building, along with the offensive drawings and vulgar language is not only offensive, but U.S Attorney Booth Goodwin said it is a violation of this country's values.

Dr. Riaz, the President of the Center said their main concern now is safety.

"Graffiti and all that we can take care, but our concern now is that the institutions and schools and all that... somebody whose kinda not mentally well can do anything," said Riaz.

13 cameras are being installed around the center, as well as automatic gates at the entrance as a further precaution.
