Winning tickets bought in California and Georgia

DES MOINES, IOWA - Some lucky folks woke up as new millionaires, lottery officials said that two winning tickets were sold in California and Georgia for the $636 million Mega Millions jackpot.

That prize was the second larges in U.S. lottery history.  Paula Otto, Virginia Lottery's executive director and the lead director of Mega Millions, said that $336 million in tickets alone were sold for Tuesday night's drawing.  That was $17 million more than was originally projected.

The winning numbers were: 8, 14, 17, 20, 39; Mega Ball: 7.

The jackpot reset to $15 million for the next drawing which was set for Friday night.
