CHARLESTON - West Virginia ranks 25th in the nation in terms of how much student debt recent college graduates have, according to a new report released this month.
The Project on Student Debt report says that, nationwide 7 in 10 college seniors who graduated in 2012 had student loan debt, the average student loan debt was $29,400.
In West Virginia, the report says the average student loan debt was a little more than $26,000. The report says about 54 percent of West Virginia's recent college graduates had student debt.
The report is an initiative of The Institute for College Access & Success.
