CRAIGSVILLE - Students in Nicholas County are welcomed to a new school.

State and local officials including West Virginia First Lady Joanne Tomblin were on hand for the official ribbon cutting for the new Gauley River Elementary School in Craigsville.

Earlier this school year the new state of the art facility opened replacing an aging structure and is now home to more than 400 students grades K-5. Nicholas County has ten elementary schools, two middle schools and two high schools and one vocational/technical school serving 4100 students with 600 employees.
