BOOMER - A community steps in to help a family give their little girl a normal life. This is the story of the family that is saying thanks.

For six-year-old Karli Legg, it's just another day. Playing outside and having fun in her hometown of Boomer. But for her family, it's a day of giving thanks.

"We live beside her and the people of Boomer just wanted to do something to help the family out a little bit because they are up against it," said family friend Dane Manley.

Karli was born with juvenile heart disease and just returned home from her second heart surgery. After three trips in three weeks to the hospital in Morgantown, the family is need of financial help.

"She just had open heart surgery and a valve replaced and she had complications and just had a rough go of it and the women wanted to do a bake sale and everything and wanted to raise a little money to help them out a little bit," said Manley.

Neighbors stop by to give donations, buy hotdogs, cupcakes and help the family.

"People of Boomer is real good about pitching in and helping out and I think it's going to be a good deal because she is a special little girl. We think so anyway," said Manley.

And after getting her face painted and seeing everyone who stopped by, Karli just wanted to say "Thanks."

If you would like to make a contribution to the family, you can stop by the Montgomery Branch City National Bank to do so.
