UPDATE: A rock climber was airlifted to Charleston after he fell 35 feet.
The National Park Service said that the victim was climbing the Star Trek Wall near Fern Creek just before 3:30 p.m. Monday when he rappelled off the end of his rope and fell. The Vienna man sustained lower limb and back injuries. He was expected to make a full recovery.
Park Rangers, the Fayette County Rope and Rescue Team, several fire departments, and General Ambulance all worked with HealthNet in the carryout.
LANSING - A rock climber in Lansing fell earlier today with injuries.
Not many details are known at this time but the climber fell at an area near the endless wall known as Star Trek, near the Fern Creek parking area in Lansing. The climber is a male and has a back injury but the extent of the injury is not known at the time. Health Net helicopter services were at the scene. Stay with newswatch for the details.
