BECKLEY - A Raleigh County School became the second in the state to unveil it's new in-school fitness center available to students.
Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin was by the side of fitness pro Jake Steinfeld at Stratton Elementary School Thursday morning for a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The new gym was part of an effort aimed at promoting physical fitness innovations and healthy living standards. Officials hope students would enjoy working out and learning healthy habits early.
"Get them on the right path to start with and hopefully they will go on the rest of their lives trying to be fit and I think by being fit, you learn better, you socialize better, it gives you a more positive outlook," said Tomblin.
Bridge Middle School is the third school set to unveil it's fitness center. Students at Southside K through eight in War unveiled their workout room Wednesday.
