Mingo judge, commissioner, prosecutor, & sheriff implicated in drug conspiracy

WILLIAMSON - Federal prosecutors said Mingo County Circuit Judge Michael Thornsbury conspired with county commissioner David Baisden, local prosecutor Michael Sparks, and now-deceased sheriff Eugene Crum in stopping a confidential informant from telling the FBI information about his drug deals with the sheriff.

Thornsbury was charged Thursday with a count of conspiracy, the filing of an information suggested he's cooperating and may enter a guilty plea.  He already faces separate corruption charges.

It's unclear whether Baisden and Sparks will be charged.

Ex-sheriff Crum died in April during a shooting unrelated to the conspiracy.
