OAK HILL - The New River Humane Society along with other animal shelters in the area have recently focused on their push to get more pets adopted, but today their mission was a little different.

The Humane Society hosted a dog wash at the Tractor Supply in Oak Hill. Owners brought their dogs to get clean for donations only. They also had kittens and puppies for adoption at a reduced fee. Organizers say this helps them stay connected to folks in the area.

"Well it's to raise awareness of the overcrowded shelter the need for people to donate, we actually need people to volunteer, we could really use more volunteers to help out and just trying to get homes for all these animals," said Anna Bennett.

If you would like to help out the New River Humane Society give them a call at (304) 574-2105.
