PAYNESVILLE - Law enforcement in McDowell County seized $3.8 million dollars worth of pot crops.
Sgt. C.F. Kane with the Welch Detachment of the State Police said that in the past two days, officials eradicated 1,523 marijuana plants from about six separate plots in the Paynesville area. Kane said the wet summer accelerated the growth and meant the crop needed less attention.
Officials did not name any suspects at this time. They said anyone with information on who might be growing the pot can call in an anonymous tip to (304)-436-2101.
Members of the McDowell County Sheriff's Department, Division of Natural Resources, and National Guard assisted with the eradication.
