CHARLESTON - About 49,000 West Virginia American Water customers monthly bills were adjusted to correct billing errors.
The company notified affected customers in late August that errors occurred after it transitioned to a new billing software system in May. Company Spokeswoman Laura Jordan said that the adjustments will appear on the affected customers' next regular monthly bills.
Some will receive a credit because they were billed for 36 or more days of water service. Others will see an additional charge to local government entities that was left off of the bill.
