FAYETTEVILLE - A correctional officer employed by the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Beckley was arrested Wednesday in connection with drug trafficking offenses.
James Howard Butcher, 41, was charged with delivery of a controlled substance, possession with the intent to deliver, and conspiracy after deputies executed a search warrant at a residence in the Whispering Oaks subdivision of Fayetteville.
Sheriff Steve Kessler said that deputies found more than $3,000 worth of Roxycodone, more than $4,000 in cash, and a large amount of firearms. Butcher was released on $100,000 bond.
His co-defendant, Misty Irene Goodwin, 35, of Ivydale, remained in Southern Regional Jail Thursday in lieu of $100,000 bond. According to a criminal complaint, Goodwin and Butcher conspired to buy large amounts of Roxycodone in Clay County to sell in the Fayetteville area.
