PINEY VIEW - A man was transported to the hospital Sunday night after authorities found him trapped in his truck over an embankment.

Dispatchers said they received the call around 7:30 p.m. The accident happened on Stanaford Road in Piney View. Bradley-Prosperity Fire Department, Mount Hope Fire Department, JanCare Ambulance, Best Ambulance and the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene.

Firefighters said they found the driver pinned inside the truck when they arrived on-scene. He was unconscious and unresponsive at the time. Firefighters do not know how long he was trapped for. The truck's engine was cold when they found him.

Assistant Fire Chief Bobby Palmer of the Bradley-Prosperity Fire Department said accidents tend to happen in that area. “There are a good bit of accidents on this road, [but] not as many as there could be,” Palmer said. “This is a very windy road.”

Firefighters also found a dog on-scene and said they are unsure who the pet belongs to. Anyone with information is asked to call the Humane Society of Raleigh County.

The Sheriff's Office is investigating this accident.
