Man charged with murder waives his right to a preliminary hearing

FAYETTEVILLE - A Fayette County man charged with murdering his girlfriend waives his right to a preliminary hearing.

63 year-old William "Fred" Cody of Fayetteville waived his right to a preliminary hearing Friday. His case is now heading to the next term of the Fayette County Grand Jury scheduled this fall. Cody is charged with the first degree murder of 24 year-old Santanae Byers in June.

He remains in Southern Regional Jail without bond.
