UPDATE - One man was taken into custody and another was taken to a hospital across state lines after a shooting Tuesday morning in Bluefield.

Lt. Scott Myers with the Bluefield Police Department told Newswatch that Larry Kidd, 30, of Bluefield was arrested. He is in the Bluefield Holding Facility awaiting transportation to Southern Regional Jail. Kidd was charged with first-degree robbery and arraigned on $25,000 cash-only bond.

Myers said investigators believe the shooting stemmed from an aggravated robbery around 3:00 a.m. Tuesday at the gaming facility Patty's on Cumberland Road. The shooting happened somewhere between Patty's and the Economy Inn down the road, where the suspects were staying.

Myers said that the individual who was shot was believed to be a part of the robbery. The victim was originally taken to Bluefield Regional Medical Center, but was transferred to a hospital in Virginia. He was first listed in serious but stable condition, but now is in recovery.

Even though that area is not usually dangerous, Myers said shootings can happen at any location. "Shootings are by circumstance," he explained. "They could be anywhere in the city."

The Bluefield Police Department is handling the investigation.
