FAYETTEVILLE - Hundreds of folks celebrated Independence Day at the annual parade in Fayetteville Thursday morning.

Several organizations took part in the walk downtown. The Fayetteville Lions Club organized the event.

President Steve Tyra of the Lions Club said the parade was the result of months of planning. Tyra said he looks forward to the annual parade. "It's just a lot of fun," Tyra said. "It's big time fun in a small town.

Senator Joe Manchin even took part in the parade, greeting folks along the route.

Tyra said he wanted this year's parade and festivities to have an old-fashioned feel.
