CHARLESTON - Officials continue to prepare for the Boy Scouts of America's National Jamboree.
More than 40,000 scouts are expected to attend the gathering that takes place every four years. It will run from July 15th through the 24th. Governor Earl Ray Tomblin issued a proclamation this week that would allow rapid deployment of additional emergency services in nine counties.
During the jamboree, 6,000 scouts are scheduled to help with off-site community service projects in Fayette, Greenbrier, McDowell, Mercer, Monroe, Nicholas, Raleigh, and Wyoming Counties.
Tomblin also announced that additional steps will be made to ensure the health and safety of traveling scouts and local community members.
