MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (June 26, 2013) – Sophomore women’s basketball player Breana McDonald has been added to the West Virginia roster for the 2013-14 season.
McDonald, a 6-foot guard/forward comes to Morgantown from Georgia Tech, where she played in 23 games, earning five starts, last season. The Lithonia, Ga., native, averaged 1.5 points and 1.2 rebounds in 6.0 minutes per game. She totaled 34 points, 28 rebounds, 10 steals, five assists and four blocks.
“Breana is someone we recruited out of high school and we are happy she is joining the Mountaineer family,” coach Mike Carey said. “She is a multi-facet guard, who can score in various ways. We are excited to have a person of her character and playing ability. Of course she will sit out this season after transferring, but that will give her a year to learn our system and what we do. I look forward to her having a tremendous career here at WVU.”
Prior to Georgia Tech, McDonald was a four-year letterwinner and two-time captain at Chamblee High. She was selected to the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association North/South and DeKalb County All-Star games in 2012 and to the 2012 Georgia Region 6AAAA First Team.
