LEWISBURG - Greenbrier County has been experiencing flooding since Monday.
The major issues have been in the eastern end of the county, according to Al Whitaker, director of Greenbrier County Homeland Security and Emergency Management. He said officials have been keeping an eye on potentially dangerous areas.
The county has a wireless emergency network system that alerts people of flooded areas by e-mail and text message. Whitaker said when "combating Mother Nature, the biggest thing is advance warning and monitoring."
If you live near a body of water, Whitaker recommends keeping an eye on the rising levels and alert Emergency Management if flooding occurs. He also recommends having an emergency preparedness kit at home in case you need to stay put.
