LEWISBURG - No word yet on who is at fault for accidentally releasing a man charged with murder from jail Tuesday night. and he was out for more than twelve hours.
Sheriff Jan Cahill explained Anthony Lee Ramsey was released from Southern Regional Jail, even though he was being held without bond. Cahill said Ramsey was taken back into custody more than twelve hours later on Wednesday morning. Officials are trying to figure out what happened.
Cahill said it was a bad situation that could have been much worse. "It potentially could've been a big problem if we had been dealing with someone else that wanted to jump on a bus and potentially try to flee the country, or at least the area," he explained.
Ramsey is facing a murder charge stemming from an incident in Alta back in January, where he allegedly shot and killed another man.
