Southern West Virginians voiced their concerns over the federal government's handling of coal permits yesterday. Industry representatives and members of the community met at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center to discuss their concerns over recent federal legislation, particular rules regarding permits and protecting streams from coal mines. Environmental groups are urging the Obama administration to curb surface mines, but coal supporters war this will hurt the industry.
