Would you like to go green this Earth Day? Officials with Sam's Club and The Raleigh County Solid Waste Authority met today to discuss the upcoming Earth Day 10K 5K race and festival. The team discussed safety for the runners and walkers as well as plans for cow-chip bingo. Cash and door prizes have been added this year and Sherrie Hunter says celebrating our planet should be something we think about every day.
“We want you to know that earth days can be every day. Think about what you put in your garbage. Should that be garbage or should I recycle that? Oops I meant to turn that light off. So everybody wants to be environmentally conscious and try to reduce your carbon footprint.”
The earth day 10-k-five-k race and festival will be April 21st at the YMCA Paul Cline Memorial Youth Sports Complex. Proceeds will benefit The Children's Miracle Network and the Raleigh County School's recycling program.
