BECKLEY - A Wyoming County couple pleaded guilty to charges that they received 17,000 prescription pain pills by mail.
Christopher and Jennifer Brooks entered their pleas Wednesday for conspiracy to distribute oxycodone and money laundering. U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin said the defendants received the pills for more than two years from a known individual in Tampa, Florida. Goodwin also said the couple deposited at least $300,000 into bank accounts in exchange for the drugs.
They each face up to 40 years in prison and a $1,500,000 fine at their sentencing which is set for June 19.
