BECKLEY - The American Red Cross is holding a special blood drive Saturday in Raleigh County.

Two blood donation buses will be on-site and donations will also be taken inside the Beckley center. The donations will aid those affected by the recent severe winter storm in the Northeast, where several blood drives were cancelled already.

"If you have one part of the community not able to donate because of the weather, we need to step up and kind of ease them through that," said Donor Recruiter Scott Hill.

The blood drive will take place from noon until 6 p.m. at the American Red Cross Center on Industrial Drive in Beckley. Officials said they hope to collect 100 units of blood.
