GHENT - The homeowners of a single-wide mobile home in Ghent destroyed by a fire are coping with their loss.
The
fire happened Wednesday morning at a house on Sam Hale Road in Ghent.
The homeowners were not inside at the time of the fire, according to
firefighters, but their pets were and most were saved.
Ghent and
Coal City Volunteer Fire Departments put out the fire. An engaged couple
expecting a baby was in the process of moving into the house before the
fire.
The woman's sister, who lives next-door, said she was
shocked when she saw the flames. "I was so scared that it was gonna blow
over onto our house. Or that [firefighters] couldn't get here in time
and lose everything."
Firefighters say the fire was quite extensive when they arrived. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
