UPDATE (2/11/2013):

DAVY - Authorities released the name of a man killed after he was struck by a train in Davy last week.

McDowell County Sheriff's Office deputies said 38-year-old Randy Kennedy, of Raysal, died Friday morning.

Kennedy was allegedly trespassing on a railroad trestle when the accident happened, according to railroad officials.

The McDowell County Sheriff's Office and Norfolk Southern Railroad Police are investigating.

DAVY - A man is dead after being hit by a train early Friday morning in McDowell County.

The McDowell County Sheriff's Office said it happened in the Davy area around 7:20 A.M.  Deputies found that a 38-year-old man was hit and killed by a train.  The victim's name is being withheld, pending notification of his family.

The McDowell County Sheriff's Office and Norfolk Southern Railroad Police are handling the investigation.
