The Raleigh County Commission approved two more Sheriff's Department employees that will help keep schools safe. Pete Staton and Charlie Darlington are now part of a program that the Sheriff's Department has been working on for the last two years. They will have a presence in county high schools to help reduce bullying, prevent drug use and speak one-on-one with troubled students. They will also be responsible for monitoring who comes in and out of school buildings.
