More than three hundred military personnel from around the world are competing in a wilderness challenge in West Virginia.
The Mid-Atlantic Region, Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department's 12th all-military wilderness challenge began today and continues through Saturday. The competition includes a mountain run, a mountain bike race, a forced hike, a kayaking race on the New River, and a whitewater raft race on the Gauley River which is the Event Director Mike Bonds' favorite part.
"Anywhere they get wet. I think the duckies, we're going to lose about half of them in the water. That always makes for great video. They love to see that." Bonds said.
Ace Adventures Resort is hosting the event and it is also a qualifying race for the U.S. Adventure Racing Association's national championships.
