A man in Tazewell County is now behind bars after police say he robbed multiple local convenience stores Thursday and Friday.

Deputies say Bobby Altizer, 29, of Swords Creek, Virginia, robbed employees at Fast Mart in Claypool with a knife or box cutter. While deputies processed evidence at Fast Mart, they were notified that a suspect, matching the description, had come into the Little General in Richlands and went behind the counter, while holding a box cutter.

Deputies from Tazewell and Russell Counties searched for the suspect through the night and were successful in getting Altizer to turn himself in.  Altizer is currently charged with one count of Armed Robbery. He is facing additional charges of Attempted Armed Robbery in Richlands and Russell County. It's possible Altizer may have attempted to rob the Valero gas station in Rosedale, Virginia, prior to turning himself in to Tazewell County Deputies. Altizer is currently in Southwest Virginia Regional Jail Authority without bond.
