BECKLEY - Beckley police are investigating a reported armed robbery at a business.

Police told Newswatch they received the call before 3:30 on Friday morning regarding an incident at the Little General Store in Nell Jean Square on the 4200 block of Robert C. Byrd drive. Lieutenant David Farley said a thin man around 6’ tall, wearing a bandana over his face, brandished a knife and demanded money from the clerk. An undisclosed amount of money was taken and the suspect ran away on foot.

Bragg said, “we have seen an upsurge in robberies and it appears, not any more for this time of year, but we are not ex-ing out the possibility that they might be connected."
