MOUNT HOPE - A married couple new to the area is behind bars after they went to the post office and picked up a package containing marijuana.

Norah Almahbub, 31, and Clinton Torrez, 35, are each charged with conspiracy to commit a felony and possession with intent to deliver.

Mount Hope Police said the city post office alerted them Tuesday morning about a suspicious package from Colorado that had a strong odor of marijuana. Police arrested the couple when they came to pick up the delivery. Officers did not release how much marijuana was in the package.

Almahbub is in the United States on an expired work visa from Saudi Arabia and Torrez has a license from Colorado, according to police.

The Mount Hope Police Department is working with several law enforcement agencies to investigate this incident. The couple is in Southern Regional Jail on $50,000 bond each.
